Inspired by Fashion Week in New York City, Los Angeles, Mexico and abroad, the first-ever Fashion Week San Antonio was conceived in October 2009. Produced by leading fashion producer, Tony Harris, this weeklong schedule of events launches a showcase of the Alamo city’s most talented designers and international brand houses by displaying their latest collections in a runway show or fashion exhibition. Positioned as a leader in Latin American culture, Fashion Week San Antonio takes specific interest in advancing the Latin-American fashion and lifestyle markets.

Featuring Veronica Castillo and Kathy Sosa this two-woman show features exquisite three-dimensional ceramic works. Castillo, folk art master, includes new pieces and works from past years. The exhibition showcases pieces that will show the evolution of the Trees of Life throughout the centuries including some that were created by her father, Don Alfonso Castillo Orta, that belong to the family collection in addition to antique pieces from Acatlan de Osorio and Izucar de Matamoros, Metepec on loan from various collectors from Mexico and the U.S. Kathy Sosa's larger than life paintings depict the Trees of Life in a brilliant size inspired by Mexican folk art featured as part of the exhibition. Sosa's series of paintings interpret the Tree of Life two-dimensionally and with a contemporary edge. The paintings depict modern integrated with Trees of Life, and are influenced as well by 18th and 19th Century Spanish and Mexican portraiture, iconic religious images and masks. This is a rare and special opportunity to see paintings in conjunction with objects that inspired them. Or, said another way: to experience intricate and masterful ceramic masterworks and the paintings they inspired.

Texas native Anthony Ryan Auld realized his designer potential when he was young, sewing a quilt with his grandmother. Since then, he pursued the career and received his degree at Louisiana State University. He has worked in retail upon graduating, and even won Best in Show at Fashion Group International's Dallas Career Day. He lists Twiggy as his style icon and dreams of dressing actress Angelina Jolie. He soon found himself auditioning for Project Runway and became a contestant in season 9 as one of 20 designers hoping to make it big in the industry. He came in 7th place in the competition. In 2012, he joined the cast of Project Runway All Stars season 2.

Samantha knew the fashion world was where she wanted to be. The arts and creativity came natural to her. Attending the University of the Incarnate Word she went in not even touching a sewing machine to leaving on top by winning first place in construction at the Cutting Edge Fiesta fashion show. Departing college Samantha’s vision was clear. She has exceeded her own expectations about how others view her work. She was critiqued by Auxiliary magazine in 2011 as an Avant-garde designer, and has now taken a more ready to wear approach for a wider audience. Considered a favorite in San Antonio, Samantha now currently resides in Austin to have a better focus on her vision. Samantha has showcased at New York fashion week and plans to do more runway shows in the future with hopes to influence others through her work. A former contestant on the hit Lifetime show Project Runway, she has been able to show her talents worldwide. Urban Chic mixed with a bit of edge definitely has people looking twice at this Texas designer.

Attending the University of the Incarnate Word she went in not even touching a sewing machine to leaving on top by winning first place in construction at the Cutting Edge Fiesta fashion show. Departing college Samantha’s vision was clear. She has exceeded her own expectations about how others view her work. She was critiqued by Auxiliary magazine in 2011 as an Avant-garde designer, and has now taken a more ready to wear approach for a wider audience. Considered a favorite in San Antonio, Samantha now currently resides in Austin to have a better focus on her vision. Samantha has showcased at New York fashion week and plans to do more runway shows in the future with hopes to influence others through her work. A former contestant on the hit Lifetime show Project Runway, she has been able to show her talents worldwide. Urban Chic mixed with a bit of edge definitely has people looking twice at this Texas designer.

ANTHONY RYAN
Anthony Ryan Auld is a Louisiana-based fashion designer who won the second season of Lifetime’s Project Runway All Stars, along with the title of Fan Favorite. He was also previously featured on the ninth season of Lifetime’s Project Runway. A Louisiana State University graduate known for his unconventional use of fabrics and raw outlook, Anthony Ryan has been recognized nationally for his award-winning designs. He has also studied design techniques in Paris, France, under the creative minds behind Vivienne Westwood, Basil Soda, Elie Saab, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Anne-Valerie Hash. A cancer survivor, Anthony Ryan is the founder of ROAR, a non-profit foundation that gives voice to those with inspiring stories of survival in the face of adversity. Why whisper when you can ROAR!   With his label Anthony Ryan, Anthony Ryan Auld creates fashion to inspire the modern woman with clean lines, definitive shapes, and bold fabric selections. His innovative use of color and simple forms continues to bring forward-thinking women striking pieces that are current yet amaranthine.   In conjunction with his label, Anthony Ryan has recently launched an upscale, lifestyle-concept store titled The ANTHILL by Anthony Ryan. This flagship store combines clothing, art, home décor and various accessories into one entity to create a “fashion community”. The store presents individuals with an original shopping experience, enhanced by one-on-one styling consultations in an inspiring setting. The ANTHILL by Anthony Ryan aims to embrace all individuals as just that; individuals.

MODA NEXT: FASHION’S FORTHCOMING
In 2012, MODA NEXT: Fashion’s Forthcoming was created by fashion producer, Tony Harris, in an effort to showcase and promote fashion design talent in the Alamo City. The scheme would later be sponsored by the City of San Antonio and the city’s Department for Cultural and Creative Development in the Spring of 2013. The mission of MODA NEXT is to offer an important introduction for young designers to influential press and buyers, locally and internationally, as well as the global fashion consumer market. MODA NEXT also renders San Antonio-based emerging designers financial support towards their collections and show/presentation costs, in addition to the opportunity to use the Fashion Week San Antonio Show Space. Beginning Spring 2015, MODA NEXT will provide business and mentoring support through the newly formed San Antonio Fashion Council members in partnership with Tony Harris Fashion and the City of San Antonio’s Department for Cultural and Creative Development. MODA NEXT is fashioned as a key attraction for attendees, media and buyers attending Fashion Week San Antonio
